Why take this test?

  • The ACT score is accepted by all 4 year college and universities in the U.S.

  • This test helps you plan for your future, helps colleges find you, and your score is based on what you know!

  • Your score on your ACT could lead to more scholarship opportunities.

  • Check with the financial aid office at the college/university you are interested in attending on what requirements they have for the ACT score for admissions and scholarships.

JUNIORS: 

* Will be taking the ACT on April 3th. This is a mandatory test, paid for by CHS. We will be implementing the John Baylor Test Prep program into the classroom starting January 25. 

John Baylor Test Prep:

CHS Students 10-12th grade have access to the John Baylor Test Prep program. The program is a 12 week ACT prep program covering content areas and tips and tricks for taking the exam. This program is implemented in the classroom during core class times.

Why take this test?

 

  • The SAT is a globally recognized college admission test that lets you show colleges what you know and how well you can apply that knowledge.

  • This test should be taken spring of Junior year. This way you have the fall of Senior year to take it again if you so choose. 

  • Taking the SAT is required for admission to some colleges. Your score on your SAT could lead to more scholarship opportunities!

Why take this test?

 

  • Only 11th-grade students can qualify for scholarships and recognition, but younger students benefit from early feedback on their skills

  • The PSAT/NMSQT assesses the critical reading, mathematics, and writing skills students need for college and beyond.

  • Qualification for National Merit Scholarship Program requires students take the PSAT, BEFORE senior year!

Why Take This Test?

 

  • Some 2-year colleges or technical schools only require an accuplacer exam to be admitted

  • This exam tests your English, Math, and Reading so you are placed in the correct classes at the beginning of your education.

  • Talk to the admissions of the school you are hopefully going to attend to see what test you need to take to be admitted.

  • **It is wise to take the ACT even if you only need the accuplacer, if your ACT scores in the English, Math, and Reading areas are high enough this will replace the need to take the Accuplacer.

  • You do NOT have to take the Accuplacer or parts of it if...

    • You've successfully completed a college level English or Algebra course through another institution

    • A minimum of 

      • 22 on ACT Match

      • 21 on ACT Reading

      • 18 on ACT English
